Germany’s Yannik Paul, made the decision to turn professional in May 2018, following on from a successful collegiate career with the University of Colorado’s Golf Team.
Graduating from CU with a degree in Business Management, Yannik had a busy year both on and off the course in 2018. His best finish of the season came at the ASU Thunderbird Invitational, where he was co-medalist, then going on to finish T2 at the Pac-12 Championships and 2nd in the team event at the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate.
Individually, Paul was named on the first team for the All-Pac 12 and also as CU’s Co-Male Athlete of the Year for all sports in the University. He posted a stroke average of 69.64 for the 2018 season, which broke the original CU record of 70.67, that was set by his twin brother Jeremy. He also broke a school record with nine tournaments under par this year, and of the 558 holes that he played, only three of these were worse than a bogey.
Throughout Yannik’s amateur career, he was selected to represent team Germany at the European Amateur Team Championships and the European Nations Cup.
Yannik made his professional debut in June 2018 at the Mackenzie Tour Free 55 Financial, where he finished tied 36th. He has continued to compete on the Mackenzie Tour and his best finish of the season came at the Syncrude Oil Championship where he finished tied 5th. This was following on from rounds of 70, 64, 66 and 70.
