BROOKS KOEPKA CLAIMS LIV JEDDAH TITLE

Tuesday, October 18, 2022

A birdie on the third play-off hole for four-time Major winner, Brooks Koepka, earned him his first LIV Golf Invitational title in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on Sunday.

Having opened the tournament with an eight-under-par 62 at Royal Greens Golf & Country Club, Koepka entered the final round one shot behind Smash GC teammate, Peter Uihlein and a Sunday 69, with a birdie on the last saw Koepka finish the week on 12 under par, tying with Uihlein.

Both Brooks and Peter birdied the first two play-off holes, before Uihlein found the sand and hit his third shot into the water. From there, Brooks rolled in another birdie putt and with that sealed the title and secured team victory for Smash GC also.

“The last two years haven’t been fun. It’s been a long road. I’m super excited”, said Brooks. “I didn’t know if my career was over for a half-second. So it’s nice to be able to come back and be able to win”.

This win has cemented Brooks into second place in the season standing, whilst Smash GC finished on a combined 33 under par, winning the team competition by six-strokes.

The tournament in Jeddah was the final individual competition of LIV Golf’s first year, with a season-ending team event to be held in Miami between 28-30 October.

Well done, Brooks! You played awesome golf and we are so happy for you.
