DUSTIN JOHNSON SEALS SECOND SAUDI VICTORY

Monday, February 8, 2021

Dustin Johnson battled to a final round 68 at Royal Greens Golf and Country Club, to secure his second title at the Saudi International, in just three years.

The World Number One started his Sunday off with a two shot lead and never left top spot, finishing two ahead of the chasing pack on fifteen under par.

Opening up with three straight pars, he had a look at eagle on the par-five fourth, but took his birdie and signalled his intent to the field.

A long run of pars followed and birdie opportunities knocked once again on the tenth and twelfth, but the putts didn’t fall until the par-four thirteenth, where Johnson held a nice putt for birdie to regain the lead on his own and from there in, he looked as solid as ever.

He played his penultimate hole in model fashion, hitting a thumping drive down the fairway, leaving him with a little pitch and a tap-in birdie.

Finding bunker off the final tee, Johnson hit his third shot to the middle of the green and took two putts to seal victory in Saudi.

“I don’t get to play around the world as much as I’d like to but it’s definitely nice to get a win not on my tour and after Augusta, to get my first win again, obviously the game is still in really good form and I’m really excited about the rest of the year”, said Dustin.

This was Johnson’s ninth European Tour victory and extends his advantage at the top of the Official World Golf Rankings.

Well done, Dustin – the dominance continues!
