The Silver Medalist from The 150th Open Championship and European Amateur Champion, Filippo Celli, has today announced that he has signed with Hambric Sports, following on from his decision to turn professional at the DS Automobiles Italian Open.
Celli has been one of the standout amateur players in the world this season and alongside his Silver Medal honours at The Open Championship and his victory at the European Amateur Championship, he also helped Italy claim the Eisenhower Trophy – a first in their history. Celli also finished 4th in the individual tournament.
The young Italian attended Texas Christian University in the US where his best collegiate results included T2 at the 2021 Wyoming Cowboy Classic and T6 at the 2021 Big 12 Men’s Championship.
Having returned back to Europe for the summer of 2022, he notched up some more impressive performances to go alongside his victories: T5 at the 2022 Italian Amateur Match Play, T7 at the ISPS HANDA World Invitational (professional event played as an amateur) and T14 at the St. Andrews Links Trophy.
“I am really excited to begin my professional journey and it is a great comfort to have the expertise of Hambric Sports guiding me through”, said Filippo. “Transitioning from amateur to professional is a big moment for any golfer and knowing how successful they’ve been with their stable of players, I knew I wanted them as part of my team”.
Filippo will be managed by Duncan Maxim. Rocky Hambric, Founder of Hambric Sports said, “We have been incredibly impressed with Filippo’s golf game and know that he possesses all of the attributes that a top professional needs to have”. “Knowing how to close out tournaments is a skill in itself and it’s one that Filippo already knows how to do very well. We look forward to watching him grow, learn and progress whilst taking on the paid ranks of the game”.
