Following a third round 64, with a final round of 64 usually gets the job done and it certainly did for Patrick Fishburn, who claimed his first MacKenzie Tour – PGA Tour Canada title at the Canada Life Championship, by three strokes.
Having fired a first round of 66, Fishburn wanted to finish with a 63, to have shot rounds of 66, 65, 64 and 63, but settled for 64 and the title. He has been knocking on the door all season and was just piped by one shot earlier on in the season in Windsor, having bogeyed his final hole.
That was kind of a bad moment,” said Fishburn, who was bogey-free Sunday. “I was glad to be able to bounce back and learn from that and get it done today. I’m excited”.
This win has moved Fishburn from eleventh to fifth on the Order of Merit rankings and has secured him Korn Ferry Tour status for the first time in his career.
“I felt really comfortable here and going into a lead I thought I had a good shot. I really like the golf course, and I love the volunteers and the community here, so I had good feelings coming into the week and it turned out pretty well for me.”
Congratulations on picking up your first Mackenzie Tour title, Patrick. You have been working so hard and this is the reward that you deserve!
