HANSEN SURGES TO AVIV DUBAI CHAMPIONSHIP SUCCESS

Wednesday, November 17, 2021

It was a flawless round of 68 on Sunday that sealed the AVIV Dubai Championship for Denmark’s, Joachim B. Hansen, as he claimed his second European Tour title of the season.

With just one bogey over the course of the tournament at Jumeirah Golf Estates, JB finished his week off on 23 under par, just one stroke ahead of Italy’s, Francesco Laporta.

Hansen entered the final day tied at the top and a birdie on the first hole handed him an immediate lead that he did not relinquish all day.

JB holed a putt from off the green to match Rozner and Laporta’s birdies at the par-five seventh, moving him to 21 under par, with the Dane then doubling his advantage after making a close-range birdie at the tenth.

A fantastic second shot into the par five thirteenth hole saw Hansen make another birdie, just missing out on an eagle.

A gutsy par save on the difficult 17th hole saw him head to the final hole of the tournament with a one shot lead, where a two putt par was enough to be victorious.

“It means a lot, especially with family here and friends this time, there was nothing in Joburg,” JB said. “It’s very nice going into next week. I’ve played very nice in the last few weeks and have been really close to playing really good, which I did this week. So I’m just going to take next week as a bonus week and try to enjoy it.”

“It’s four wins, some season for Danish golf. I hope it inspires lots of golfers back home.”

With this win, it catapulted JB up the Race to Dubai rankings to 43rd, which secured him a spot in the European Tour’s season finale at the DP World Tour Championship this week. Congratulations, JB. We are all so happy for you and your family!
