JOHNSON CLAIMS 21st PGA TOUR WIN AT THE TRAVELERS CHAMPIONSHIP

Sunday, June 28, 2020

Dustin Johnson won the Travelers Championship on Sunday, to claim his 21st PGA Tour title and extend his career-long season victory streak to 13.

Having shot a career low round of 61 (-9) on Saturday, it was clear that Johnson was sharp and dialled in.

A final round of 67 (-3) was enough to finish one stroke ahead of Kevin Streelman at TPC River Highlands, on a total of 261 (-19).

“I’m definitely proud of myself for continuing the streak and I want to keep it going,” Johnson said. “It was a long time between wins, though, and so, hopefully it won’t be that long for the next one.”

Johnson started the day 2 strokes behind Brendon Todd and took the lead after three straight birdies, brought him to 20 under after 10 holes.

Needing two pars on 17 and 18 to seal the title, Dustin did just that, hitting his tee shot on 17 to the middle of the fairway and 2 putting from 32 feet, after a solid wedge shot approach.

A 351 yard drive dead centre down the middle of the 18th fairway and a wedge shot to 18 feet, left him with 2 putts for the title. Tapping in for his 67th shot of the day, the title was Johnson’s and his 13 year winning streak continued.

This victory writes another record in the history books, as Johnson now has more TOUR wins since 2008 than any other player. He moves to 4th in the Official World Golf Rankings and 22nd on the FedEx Cup standings for the 2020 season.

Congratulations on victory at the Travelers Championship yesterday, Dustin. We are all incredibly proud of you!
