JORDAN SMITH STORMS TO VICTORY IN PORTUGAL

Monday, October 31, 2022

Finishing his week on a total of 30 under par, Jordan Smith claimed his second DP World Tour win at the Portugal Masters.

Jordan produced a stunning display of golf over the course of the week and secured a wire-to-wire victory, which included not only a wonderful display of ball-striking, but also some incredible recovery shots.

Going into the final round at Dom Pedro with a two-shot lead, he looked incredibly comfortable and knocked in his first birdie of the day at the 4th hole, followed up by an eagle at the 5th, having hit his second shot to 27 feet.

Smith’s next birdie came at the 9th hole and he went on to make four more birdies over the back nine, to finish on 30-under par after a final round of 63 (-8).

“It’s just amazing. It’s been a long grind for those five seasons, just pushing it out and finally getting over the line today – over the moon”, said Jordan. “It’s nice getting the first win but then it’s great knowing you can do it again. It’s more down to the pressure I put on myself to get the win and now I’ve got my second one we can push on for a couple more.”

Over the course of the week, Jordan shot rounds of 62, 67, 62 and a flawless 63, with a total of 3 eagles and 27 birdies.

This victory caps off a fantastic season for Jordan, who has had eight top 10 finishes this season on the DP World Tour. It lifts him up to 9th on the Tour rankings and sees him return to the winner circle for the first time since his win at the 2017 Porsche European Open.

Congratulations, Jordan. Incredible golf this week in Portugal, as well as this season. A win was just around the corner and we are so happy for you!
