NICOLAI HØJGAARD CLAIMS DP WORLD TOUR CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE

Monday, November 20, 2023

22-year-old Dane, Nicolai Højgaard, claimed the biggest win of his professional career yesterday when he won by 2 shots at the season finale DP World Tour Championship.

Nicolai produced a brilliant final round of 64 (-8), which included nine birdies and just one bogey on the challenging Earth course at Jumeirah Golf Estates.

With his sole bogey coming at the 12th hole, he recovered and responded superbly by going on  a run of five straight birdies and making par at the last.

Finishing the day on 21 under par, it could not be matched and he was crowned champion of the biggest event on the DP World Tour schedule, with an incredibly strong field of 50 players, 9 of them his European Ryder Cup teammates.

“It means a lot, it’s the sweetest one,” said Nicolai. “So much hard work has been put in over the past couple years – it feels amazing, this is for family and everything they put in over the years. So much hard work going into this, for it to happen like this is unbelievable”.

With this win, it saw Nicolai finish his season ranked 2nd on the Race to Dubai rankings, a career high, as well as lifting him up to 50th in the Official World Golf Rankings, also a career best ranking.

It was also a memorable day for Thorbjørn Olesen and Alexander Björk who earned their PGA Tour cards for 2024, having finished their seasons 9th and 11th respectively on the Race to Dubai. Both had stellar seasons and we look forward to seeing them compete on the PGA Tour in next season.

Congratulations to Nicolai, Thorbjørn and Alexander on their respective achievements last week – we are so proud of you all!
