Sunday evening at the Alfred Dunhill links Championship at St.Andrews is always special. This year’s event was made even more special with Thorbjørn Olesen’s victory at the Home of Golf, claiming his third European Tour title. Thor came second at this event in 2012 and went one better on Sunday, posting a one under par 71 to finish the week on 18 under par, two shots clear of his Hambric Sports stablemate, Brooks Koepka.
It has been a tough year for Thor having dealt with hand surgery that sidelined him for almost 3 months and, with results not going his way over the last few weeks, it was hugely impressive to see how he handled himself having held a 2 shot lead going into the final round and kept the chasing pack at bay right up to the final hole on Sunday.
After his victory Thor said, “It’s been a very tough year and standing here with this trophy is unbelievable.”
Congratulations Thor we are all so happy for you and to see the work you have put in over the last few months having come back from surgery will make this victory all the more special.
Enjoy the celebrations
