Wilson back in the Winner’s Circle

Sunday, August 5, 2018

Holing a ten foot par putt on the second playoff hole was enough to seal victory at the Swedish Challenge for Oliver Wilson.

Oliver shot rounds of 68, 70, 79 and a final round of 68 to leave him on -13 and set up a playoff with the current Road to Ras Al Khaimah leader, Joachim B Hansen.

With both Wilson and Hansen settling for pars on their first extra hole, Oliver held his nerve on the second playoff hole and played a fantastic approach shot from the edge of the green, before safely two-putting for par.

The 2008 European Ryder Cup player has endured a tough couple of years, but he was thrilled to come away with his first victory since the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship in 2014.

“I’m absolutely delighted, I really am,” said Wilson. “It was hard. The last few years have been hard and I battled well today. Just to get the job done, it means a lot. There’s a long way to go on my journey but this is definitely a big step in the right direction.”

This victory at the Swedish Challenge catapults Oliver up to 26th position on the Road to Ras Al Khaimah rankings, less than 13,000 points away from the elusive top 15.

Form is temporary and class is permanent. Well done on a fantastic victory Oli – we are all so proud of you and knew that your hard work would pay off!
