Gary Hurley spent four years at Maynooth University and proved to be one of the most consistent amateur golfers in the world, recording 3 amateur victories and 5 straight top 10 finishes in high profile amateur events.
Runner up finishes at both the Spanish and European Amateur Championships in 2015 solidified Gary’s involvement in the victorious GB&I Walker Cup team.
Gary was also a two time participant on the European Team for the Arnold Palmer Cup and has represented Ireland in the Home Internationals, the World Amateur Team Championship and the Great Britain & Ireland team, for the St. Andrew’s Trophy.
Turning professional in September 2015 at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, Gary collected his maiden professional win at the Palmares Classic V Trophy, on the Algarve Pro Tour just a few months later.
Securing status on the European and Challenge Tours in 2016 & 2017, Gary’s best finishes came at the Montecchia Open (T4), Second Stage of Q-School (T7), the Barclays Kenya Open (T19) and at the Rocco Forte Open (T23).
Gary had full status on the Challenge Tour for the 2018 season and his best result was tied 4th at the Open de Portugal. This moved him up to 37th on the Road to Ras Al Khaimah rankings.
He went on to finish 109th on the Road to Ras Al Khaimah rankings and found some form when he won First Stage of European Tour Qualifying School at Frilford Heath.
Gary competed on the Challenge Tour for the 2019 season and although things didn’t fare out how he would have liked last year, he has a new energy and drive as he takes on the 2020 season, starting out on the Alps Tour, where he has earned a full status card.
Gary graduated with an honours degree in Business and Management from Maynooth University.
