Becoming only the fourth Italian to win the Challenge Tour rankings, Laporta has proven that he knows how to win, having clinched victory at the 2019 Hainan Open and going wire-to-wire at the 2019 Challenge Tour Grand Final.

These victories sealed the top spot on the Road to Mallorca rankings for Laporta and saw him graduate to the European Tour for the 2020 season.

Having led going into the weekend at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship, Francesco went on to finish in a tie for 17th spot, to get his season off to a quick start.

Known for his consistent ball striking, the Italian missed just one cut in his final 17 starts of his 2019 campaign and recorded impressive results at the Turkish Airlines Challenge (2nd), Open de Portugal, (T3), Hoops Open de Provence (T3), Made in Denmark (T5) and ISPS HANDA World Invitational (T5).

Laporta finished his 2018 season ranked 57th on the Challenge Tour rankings, having produced solid finishes at the Rocco Forte Sicilian Open (T7), Turkish Airlines Challenge (T9) and the Cordon Golf Open (T9).

Francesco is competing on the European Tour for the 2020 season and looks to continue his rise through the Official World Golf Rankings.

Francesco loves soccer and is a big Inter Milan fan – he brings his Playstation to every tournament too! He also enjoys playing tennis and was competitive at a high level, before turning his attention to golf.
